July 5, 2011 Minutes

Present: Carol Knight, Rob Wilson, Carolyn Johnson, Bill Humbert, Bob Conly and Cara Spaccarelli
Absent: Rita Wenham, Victor Adams, Joe Citro, Pat Lusk and Barb Laymon
-
The meeting was opened at 5:05 pm by Carol.
-
Possible Solution to Basement Water: Joe spoke with Brian Brondell from the Diocese who is knowledgeable about old churches. He feels that if we clear all of the plants out between the sidewalk and the church and place a rubber mat (on a slant) we will solve the problem. Joe will ask for something in writing.
-
Lighting: A light should be available on July 11 for us to test.
-
Finial: Joe will also ask Bill for a bid on fixing the finial(s).
-
Front Door: Carol will ask Andy for a bid on touching-up the front door. The current color is fine.
-
Parish Hall: Carol will talk with Kevin reference doing touch-up painting in the Parish Hall.
-
Dishwashers: Carol will be talking with Warren Miller of American Energy Restaurant Equipment Inc. about dishwasher replacement with a commercial version that will clean a tray in about 90 seconds. The person coming out will be knowledgeable about the electrical and plumbing needs.
-
Yarmouth. Carol is now receiving monthly reports from Yarmouth. We note that we are spending approximately $500.00 on maintenance per month on the houses. We need to get a better handle on exactly what this covers.
-
Pointing on Two of Rental Properties. Carol is still playing telephone tag with Renaissance as a 3rd bidder for pointing work needed on the rental properties. Priddy Brick and Stone Works (5701 Rossmore Drive, Bethesda, MD 20814, 301-530-4262) is the other bidder. Popeye is not licensed/bonded in the district.
-
Miscellaneous Items:
-
Awning: We need to call for an estimate. The frame is still in good condition.
-
Soap Dispensers: New ones are needed for the restrooms. Old ones were cheap and they drip onto the floor.
-
Carpet: There are now carpet squares that are less expensive that the ones at Flors. We know that we do not want to have a wooden reveal around the edge of the room. We have one concern about the mechanics of sticking the squares to the wooden floor that is currently in the Parish Hall. We do not want to cause damage to it—it is currently in good condition.
-
Grill: the current grill has problems. Bill and Rob were going to look at it to see if it can be fixed or if we need to replace it. A comment was made that now is a good time for replacement as grills are on sale.
-
Pew 32: The pew is wobbly.
-
Rectory Walk-through: Cara pointed out that as part of her contract, we wanted a walk-though of the rectory each year to check for problems. She will be here for a year officially in July. Cara noted that there is some mold in the master bedroom bath due to a problem with the air vent.
-
Next meeting will be Tuesday, August 2, 2011 at 5:00 PM.
-
Meeting was closed with prayer by Cara at 5:55 PM.
